Fundamental Concepts of Communications: Analog and digital modulation techniques, Advanced modulation formats, Continuous-phase modulation (CPM), Fading channels, Multi carrier modulation, Equalizer, Digital Transmission and Transmission Impairments; Transmission Media and Wave Propagation: Metallic Cable, Optical Fiber, Free Space, Antennas and Waveguides; Optical Communication: Optical System and Performance Evaluation, Optical Link Design, WDM Networks, SONET/SDH and DWDM. System design for long haul high bandwidth consideration, Applications; Wireless Communication: Wireless systems and standards, Channel modeling, Diversity combining, MIMO, UWB communications, Satellite communication and Performance analysis.
