Cleavage, schistosity, boudins. Microdeformation, plastic and brittle deformation,
Large scale tectonics. Folds – classification, mechanism of folding, Theory of progressive evolution of fold shapes in single competent layers, Layer parallel shortening, Dependence of fold shape on high and low viscosity contrast between different layers.
Superimposed folding, type 1, 2 and 3 interference patterns.
Study of various types of fractures. Fault classification based on orientation of stress and strain axes. Thrust systems. Strike slip fault systems. Shear zones.
