E-cell, IIT Bhubaneswar Organised Workshop on "Funding Opportunities and Legal Aspects of Startups" on 9th April, 2016

Started with the inaugural in which lot of motivational talk from all Dignitaries regarding need of entrepreneurs to the country because of which a job seeker turns to be a job giver which can reduce unemployment and increase the development of the country. Prime minister’s slogan “Make in India” can be achieved when more entrepreneurs come up.

Talk by Canara bank:

Inaugural was followed by a Talk on “Funding Opportunities of Canara Bank” headed by Mr. Premanand Dash, DGM, Canara Bank, Bhubaneswar. They started with Prime Minister Modiji’s initiative Start-up India which is a flagship initiative of the Government of India, intended to build a strong eco-system for nurturing innovation and Start-ups in the country that will drive sustainable economic growth and generate large scale employment opportunities. They talked about MSME Sector which gives employment to about 8.5 crore people where a lot of entrepreneurs fall in this sector and especially their schemes to this sector. They talked about schemes like CGTMSE, which prove guarantee cover to loans up to INR one crore without any collateral security and /or third party guarantees to borrowers in MSME sector. They also added that especially Canara bank would provide 0.25% reduction in interest rate and people can apply and track these loans online.

Talk by SBI bank:

Canara Bank’s Talk was followed by a Talk on “Funding Opportunities of SBI Bank” headed by Mr. Arup Dashgupta, DGM, SBI Bank, Bhubaneswar. They started with people should have trust in Banks and they also gave a brief introduction on schemes like Mudra and also about their initiatives like RSETI (Rural Self Employment Training Institute). They concluded with motivating words such as “Be an Entrepreneur, look towards banker to every Indian, and Make us a partner in your success”.

 

Talk by Prof. S. Matilal & Prof. Indrajit Dube

SBI Bank’s Talk was followed by a Talk on “Intellectual Property laws in India” by Prof. S. Matilal, Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, IIT Khargpur. He started with the importance of having more intellectual property than having more Real properties like land, houses. He talked on different intellectual properties like copyright, patents, trademark, their requirements for protection, and also mainly about which things to protect and things which should not be protected because of which we may leak out some secrets of the product/company in the process of protecting them. He also talked exclusively on how to protect computer program.
Prof. S. Matilal’s Talk was followed by a Talk on “Legal Aspects related to forms of Ownership” by Prof. Indrajit Dube, Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, IIT Khargpur. His talk is very informational, he talked on different forms of ownership, which has to be chosen with utmost care while registration of the company and comparative analysis of compliance requirement and incorporation cost.
