E-Cell @ IIT Bhubaneswar


Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) of IIT Bhubaneswar aims at promoting a spirit of entrepreneurship in the academic community of the Institute. Started in 2013 as a student-run organization under the aegis of Institute Gymkhana, it is now a Board-approved body (vide 19th Meeting of the Board of Governors held on 29 October 2015) and is recognized as an important organ to create an Ecosystem for Fostering Entrepreneurship at IIT Bhubaneswar.

The main activities of E-Cell will focus on creating awareness on entrepreneurship, encouraging technology incubation, and preparing the young ones to initiate startups. In the awareness-creation front, the E-Cell will organize many events dispersed throughout the year, which will be culminated by holding an annual event on entrepreneurship.The events dispersed throughout the year will include Panel Discussions, Industry-Student Interaction, Start-up Expos, Investors Drives, Student Entrepreneurship Fostering Bodies Meets, Workshops on Share Market Investment, Business Modelling, and Competitions on Case study, Product Design, and Business Quiz. E-Cell will continue to organise E-Summit every year to provide a wider platform to students for interacting with industrialists, funding agencies, and seasoned and upcoming entrepreneurs. An important activity of E-Cell will be to provide mentorship to the students for initiating startups and to facilitate venture funding.

E-Summit'16

The maiden student-level entrepreneurial summit "E-Summit 16" organised by IIT-Bhubaneswar with the aim to infuse entrepreneurship and promote innovation among students of the region.

The two-day event hosted lectures by eminent personalities across various domains. The experts deliberated on the essentials that are vital for aspiring entrepreneurs. The theme of the event was "Industry 4.0" that aims to promote the Make-in-India concept by infusing information technology with the process manufacturing.

Managing Director, State Bank of India (national banking group), Rajnish Kumar, Managing Director of Ortel Communications Jagi Mangat Panda, and Director IIT Bhubaneswar Prof. R.V. Rajakumar addressed the inaugural session.

One of the most interesting events planned at E-Summit 16 was "Investors' Drive". In this session, student participants presented their business plans before a number of potential investors - venture capitalists, angel investors, financial institutions and even government departments. E-Summit’16 hosted a number of competitions among students and an exhibition of products and services by startups.
