IIT Bhubaneswar successfully organized a one day webinar on the topic "How to Start an Enterprise" on February 5th, 2022

E-Cell, IIT Bhubaneswar successfully organized a one day webinar on the topic "How to Start an Enterprise" on February 5th, 2022 with many knowledgeable and interesting sessions. The aim of the webinar was two-fold:

  • Provide essential knowledge and skills required to be an entrepreneur
  • Build entrepreneurial mindset, amongst the students community and encourage them to pursue their ideas

During the inaugural session, Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar, welcomed all the participants. Talking about the seminar, he expressed that it is essential that we make the way of starting an enterprise, a common knowledge of every student of higher education, especially engineering education to enhance the percentage of aspirants significantly. He spoke about the importance of such a webinar and how the interactive webinar could go a long way for all the participants who might have a lot of questions and doubts regarding entrepreneurship and start-ups.

He talked about how the inspiration to conduct such events comes from the honorable Prime Minister of India and the different government schemes available. The present initiative is the beginning of the initiation of an ambitious endeavor of the institute in this direction. He also mentioned that the endeavor would not only be done for IIT Bhubaneswar, but beyond.

The day long webinar was conducted in 6 sessions. Prof. Vinay Nangia, Ex Professor, IIT Roorkee spoke about Enterprise, Entrepreneur and Classification in the second session of the webinar. Prof. Thillai Rajan, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, spoke about Effective Business Proposal writing and Company Valuation Mechanisms. The Guest of Honour, Shri Bidyut Bihari Swain, I.A.S, Secretary, MSME, Government of India spoke about Converting Ideas to a Startup and Scope for Funding opportunities. Shri Manmohan Swain, DGM(SME), State Bank of India, Bhubaneswar spoke about Funding Opportunities from Banks. Dr. Basab Chakraborty, Associate Professor, IIT Kharagpur talked on Budgeting and Business Planning.

Shri Anurag Jain IAS, Secretary DPIIT was the Chief Guest of the valedictory session and apprised the audience about Start-up India initiatives and the Process of Registering a Company.

With that, the eventful seminar came to an end with vote of thanks given by the Chairman of E-Summit, Dr. Madhusmita Dash. The webinar was well participated by more than one thousand five hundred students, not only from the various IITs and Pan-India technical institutions but also participants beyond the boarder. The event was coordinated by Dr. Madhusmita Dash and Dr. Gaurav Bartarya.
