Dr. Rajan Jha selected as OSA Ambassador for 2017

Dr. Rajan Jha from School of Basic Sciences has been selected as Optical Society of America (OSA) Ambassador for 2017. This lifetime distinction recognizes OSA Young Professionals who are leaders in the optics and photonics community. As an ambassador he will have the opportunity to share his experiences and perspectives with students and young professionals from around the world; while promoting the impact the society had on him and his career.

Ambassador Benefits and Commitments:

  • He will receive a lifetime ambassador distinction for his continuing efforts to serve the greater optics and photonics community.
  • Ambassadors will serve for one year (January 2017 - December 2017) and receive the following:
    • Support through the OSA Traveling Lecturer Program to visit student chapters and local sections.
    • Full travel support to attend the OSA Winter Leadership meeting taking place in Washington, DC February 2017. Ambassadors will participate in a program orientation.
    • Full travel support to attend the OSA Annual Meeting, Frontiers in Optics/Laser Science (FiO/LS) 2017 in Washington, DC September 2017. Ambassadors will support the Student Leadership Conference (SLC), various programming for students and young professionals and participate in further program training.
    • Additional support upon request to assist with professional development focused events.
    • Recognition as an Ambassador in OSA Publications and in the OSA Member Directory.
