Counselling Service Team
Every individual is unique and endowed with exceptional talents. However, there are moments when an individual feels distressed, lonely, ineffective, bewildered, anxious, disturbed, uninformed due to day to day hassles, stressful situations, life transitions, difficulties in maintaining intra/ inter personal relationships and many issues which creates the dire necessity for psychological support and concern in this turbulent world crammed with tensions, worries, anxieties and stress.
Founded in 2010, IIT Bhubaneswar's Counselling Service Team (CST) is marching ahead in its mission to facilitate the personal, academic, professional and social growth of the students, and to equip them with the skills to meet up with the variety of challenges in life. The team creates a safe-space for students to discuss their issues & challenges in a secure, confidential and private environment. Since members of the team are students themselves, they understand the difficulties faced by the newbie. This mentoring by senior students of the CST creates a culture that strengthens the inter-personal bonds between the students.
Structure
The team is headed by a Faculty member, followed by a student Coordinator who along with the aid of Assistant Coordinators and Student Guides provides assistance, guidance and support through-out the period of students’ tenure at the Institute. There are 16 Students Guides and each is entrusted with the responsibility of 8-10 freshers. There is an Institute Counsellor also for one-to-one private counselling.
