IIT Bhubaneswar organizes Medical Camp for students in collaboration with KIMS Hospital

19th Oct, 2019, Bhubaneswar: From the time of its inception, IIT Bhubaneswar has been consistent in its commitment to offer comprehensive medical care and wellbeing of its students. The Health camp was organized by Medical Unit of IIT Bhubaneswar in collaboration with KIMS Hospital, Bhubaneswar at the Community Centre located in its campus. The Health Camp was inaugurated by Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar appreciated the initiative by the Medical Unit of IIT Bhubaneswar headed by Dr M A Khan, in collaboration with KIMS Hospital, stressed that at IIT Bhubaneswar a wellness environment of holistic nature is created ensuring physical well-being, mental well-being and clean and green living environment at the campus for the students and other campsites and that such initiatives would help in this endeavour. In addition, students owing to their immersive study schedules and paucity of time often neglect their health and organization of such health camps will help them and it can significantly contribute in creating a healthy student community. Also, a timely preventive health check-up mechanism can help to minimize health risks.

Students were checked by a team of medicine specialists, gynaecologists, physiotherapist, ophthalmologist and dental surgeon from KIMS Hospital, Bhubaneswar. A series of tests viz. Free Blood Sugar, ECG (on doctor’s advice), Eye Check Up were undertaken between 9 AM-4PM. The camp witnessed active participation from a total of 247 students at IIT Bhubaneswar.
