Biosketch

Dr. Maneesh Punetha is a teacher and researcher with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur, India. He has an academic and professional background, having worked as a Postdoctoral researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, and at IIT Kanpur, India. Additionally, he has practical experience in handling safety requirements of the steel industry. He was responsible for regulatory compliance and risk assessments of process and operation at several important units of ESSAR Steel India Ltd., India.
 
Dr. Punetha specializes in phase change processes, multiphase flows, and heat transfer systems. His research focuses on developing efficient and reliable cooling solutions for energy systems and electronics. Currently, he is also involved in teaching, laboratory development activities, and research projects at the School of Mechanical Sciences, IIT Bhubaneswar, India.
 
Dr. Punetha has made significant contributions to the field, having designed and built two large-scale experimental facilities (CoSMUS and THYCON) to study nuclear accident phenomenology. He has collaborated with government and private partners in India and abroad, including BARC, BRNS, Nuclear Energy Agency, Swedish Radiation Safety Authority, and Framatome.
 
His research has resulted in seven publications in peer-reviewed journals, several book chapters, and conference presentations. He has received many awards for his research work and academics, including the "Outstanding Ph.D. Thesis Award, 2020" from IIT Kanpur.
 
Dr. Punetha's dedication to his work is evident through his commitment to sustainable engineering solutions for the energy sector while considering safety and the environment. He hails from a beautiful valley city, Pithoragarh, in Uttrakhand, India, and enjoys bringing creativity to both his academic and extracurricular endeavors.
