A warm welcome to the scenic and serene IIT Bhubaneswar campus!
Established in the year 2008, our IIT started functioning from two transit campuses in Bhubaneswar city. Since then, we have certainly come a long way. The present permanent campus is situated at the foot of the Barunei hillock and spreads over 936 acres of land. The hillock is not only a beautiful tourist spot, it is famous for its historical significance. The area is known for the resistance against the British occupation of Khurda Garh, the last independent fort of India, in the year 1803 – 1804. It is also the landmark of the first freedom struggle in India, the Paika Bidroha during 1810- 1817.
Inspired and privileged to be the torch bearers of such milestones of history, we at IIT Bhubaneswar endeavor to kindle the spark in a generation of students entrusted to us. Our highly committed and competent faculty strive to produce motivated and well rounded young adults through undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs. Our students are equipped with critical thinking, efficient communication, hands-on experience, experimental, management and entrepreneurial skills, and an ethical mindset appropriate for industry, academia, research and start-ups. Empowered with holistic training, our students can excel in their chosen professions and pursue their dreams, leading a happy life of service to society.

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the Career and Development Cell of Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar. The cell has been established to provide placement opportunities for the students of this esteemed institute. Since its inception the cell has grown from strength to strength and has been catering to the aspirations of students by securing jobs and training opportunities for them in the best organizations of the world. The success of the career development cell is due to the untiring efforts of the placement office, the faculty placement coordinators of the different departments and the student placement and internship coordinators. These efforts ensured that the students could secure good job and internship opportunities even during challenging times such as those presented by the recent corona pandemic. It is important to mention here that there are several major multinational companies and industries who visit our campus year after year for recruitment
This is a testament to the fact that the students of IIT Bhubaneswar have been performing well for the companies they were recruited by. The academic curriculum at IIT Bhubaneswar has been designed to provide the students a right mix of theoretical and practical training. The laboratory courses have been developed to expose the students to a variety of tools and techniques which help them appreciate the real world working of concepts taught in class. The laboratory courses are suitably complemented by 8 weeks mandatory summer internship program and regular industry and R&D lab visits. For the development of a well rounded personality, the students are encouraged to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities. Sports, Yoga, Community Service events are mandatory for the first year undergraduate students and different societies such as dramatics, robotics etc and fests such as Alma Fiesta, E-Summit allow students of all years to add a new dimension to their personality. The fine balance of academic and extra-academic activities at IIT Bhubaneswar helps prepare the students for the rigors of the corporate world and it’s not a surprise that our students are most sought after by recruiters. More than 2800 students have been placed through the career development cell till date and these numbers continue to rise at a fast rate. The career development cell invites all recruiters and assures them of a great recruitment experience visiting our campus and recruiting the best talent of our country.
